We are now welcoming a social worker (counselor) to our team!
About the Department
The Forensic Psychiatry Department (VO) belongs to the Administration of Psychiatry, Habilitation and Assistive Devices. The department consists of nine forensic psychiatry inpatient units located in Trelleborg, Helsingborg, Hässleholm, and Kristianstad. Our outpatient units are located in Malmö, Helsingborg, and Hässleholm, and we currently have approximately 400 employees.
Forensic psychiatry treats individuals who have been sentenced by the court to forensic psychiatric care. Many suffer from severe psychotic illness, multiple disabilities with functional impairments, brain injury, severe personality disorders, or substance abuse. Secondary complications such as lack of formal education, criminality, social isolation, and exclusion are common. The goal of forensic psychiatric care is to rehabilitate individuals suffering from severe mental illness into daily life in society, with a reduced risk of reoffending.
In Hässleholm, there is an outpatient clinic and three inpatient units: Units 10, 11, and 12. Additionally, we have Unit 9 with nine care beds in Kristianstad. The inpatient units in Hässleholm have a total of 37 beds. They are primarily intended for patients sentenced to forensic psychiatric care. In some cases, patients may stay with us for long periods, giving us unique opportunities to follow them through the treatment and rehabilitation process. We work to ensure that all patients in inpatient care are our shared responsibility, and it is natural for us to support each other between units when needed.
Job Responsibilities
In your role as a social worker (counselor), you will be part of a team with doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, and nursing staff regarding patients in closed forensic psychiatric care. The work is based on a holistic perspective of the patient. Your tasks consist of psychosocial treatment and investigation work, as well as practical curative interventions. You work with both individual contacts and the patient's private and professional networks.
As a social worker, you will have an important role in conveying information about social support measures and collaborating with authorities, healthcare providers, and other partners. You stay updated within the social services and health insurance areas and also have a mandate as a children's ombudsman, ensuring that children in the patient's immediate vicinity are acknowledged and supported. You will also participate in risk assessment work and be responsible for supervising upcoming social work students.
Our basic working method is through team collaboration, where different competencies and experiences enrich and complement each other. The operation is characterized by diversity and high competence. In your work, you collaborate with municipalities, which is an essential part of the job. This also contributes to the continuous development of the unit.
